#202 (Make that #167...) on IMDB's Top 250 Movies
Swung by the IMDb page... THE THING sits at #202 in the Top 250 Films. Highest ranking yet. Almost 33 000 votes. Be nice to see it break into the 100's soon....... Vote if you haven't. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084787/ T

Nice update. Does anyone know how it compares to other Carpenter films?

Z@3 Redrum- 05-13-2007

Quite less, I think this is definately Carpenter's best movie on IMDB. It's on 200 right now btw.

Indeed, just climbed to #200 over the weekend. T

Sweet, it broke past the #200 spot. #199 now. Highest ranking ever. T

Awesome!

#198 now, highest ranking yet. And they finally removed the video game poster. A few of us have been trying to get the IMDb to fix this error for awhile. They put up the 2004 DVD artwork. It's not the glow-face but way better than the video game artwork. T

Wow, I wonder, will this slowly become known as one of the grea-*test*-('") movie legends of all time?

Todd- 07-13-2007

#196. When I first got online in 1999 this film was at 6.7 or 6.8 outta 10 with a few thousand votes. At the rate it is going it should break into the top 100 if not the top 50 of all time. It is getting LOTS of votes recently which is driving it up. T

Todd- 07-15-2007

#194 today. For some reason it is getting a huge number of people voting for it recently which I believe is causing it to climb very fast. 35,708 votes on July 15th, 2007. T

People finally realise this movie rocks

T Hey Todd, not sure about over in CA or the big US of A, but over here I have seen brand new VHS & DVD versions of The Thing with the game artwork as the cover. This was a couple of years ago, I think I mentioned it before. Awesome to see this move is finally getting some well deserved recognition. Say what you will about the marvels of CGI, but nothing in this world can make people squeamish like Rob Bottin's rubber nightmares from The Thing. I'll take a guy in a suit over rendered crap anyday!

It has climbed another 10 spots over the past 3 months, #184 now. T
