An (un)interesting read
I've only read the part about the Thing (I'm at work right now, so not the best time), but it was interesting and true. I'm sure there must be other interesting stuff on other games covered in this article too : http://www.adamjthompson.com/thought/CreatingEthics.html

Another interesting read : http://www.edge-online.com/magazine/the-making-of-the-thing To me, it was a mistake to give up on the most innovative ideas.

Ugh, I hate these articles. Am I not surprised to see the author's last name is "Thompson"? Not at all.

What did you hate in the articles ? I've only read the part about the Thing but there was some truth in it, notably that the game did not let most of the NPCs around enough time for the player to care about them. After the level where Fisk, Dixon and Falchek were killed off or had scripted burst-outs, I just didn't care about the NPCs as I knew they would just help me for a level and then have a scripted death at the end of it.

Well, the first article clearly is a state of moral opinion against video games, criticizing different video games for their content. Read the other sections and you'll see what I mean. In fact, the section about The Thing was clearly based on the moral it inflicts on the player and that it could teach them to become violent. It had nothing to do with any actual flaws in the game.

Oh really ? Didn't know that, I'll read it when I have the time. That's why people don't post articles they haven't read entirely, I guess. :P

Yes, I guess so lol In all seriousness, it's a shame Mr. Thompson hasn't been convicted of anything yet.
