Why is BlairThing so big at the end? It must have "digested" alot of Bio-tissue. I think that one source was the"arms" that go through the ceiling at Dogtown.

I guess part of it came from Gary and Nauls. The novel (by your friend and mine Alan Dean Foster) says something about how Thing cells are able to change their size too, which is why Thing-Outs can be much larger than imitations. I'm still not convinced anything escaped in the kennel scene.

Also (it's been a while since I've watched the movie) did they burn the dead dogs after Blair went crazy and killed the rest of them? If they didn't he might have absorbed a few of those.

Watch the Dogtown scene again, Khan. It CLEARLY shows "arms" coming out of DogThing, pushing aside boards in the ceiling, and a good amount of Thing- Mass goes up and out of the kennel.

Hmmm. I just dug the DVD out and watched that scene again and I'm still not convinced anything escaped. The clawed hands broke the boards and pulled the main body up to the roof where it hung, but if it had crawled out through the hole it made, Mac (who was standing right there, not to mention some of the others) would have seen it leave and gone after it, or at least remembered it. That particular Thing wasn't that big, and some of it's mass had gone into working on the other dogs. If such a large piece as you say had gotten away, then there wouldn't have been near as much to burn when Childs finally burns it.

It CLEARLY doesn't show anything like a good amount of Thing-mass going up and out of the kennel. We see the arms grabbing the boards of the ceiling, the Thing starting to elevate and it then gets burned by Childs, the mass falling on the floor when it happens. Moreover, as Khan said, this would mean that the men did not react to this and that Carpenter did not show it either (and it's also not present in the script and the novel based on the script, although some things have changed from screen to script so we can't be sure by relying on them). I have no problem with you stating that MAYBE a part escaped from the kennel, but CLEARLY is a little bit too much for me...

I agree pretty much with Gary here. To me, it seemed to have gotten trapped and was then torched by Childs. XidiouX

Blair the Hutt. XidiouX

Blair the Hutt. XidiouX LOL!! :D GhodiGirl, I used to think the same thing, too. It's possibly that maybe a small piece crawled off and escaped off camera, but I'm not too sure that it those arms made it out. About that point, Childs comes in and Mac screams, "Get your ass over here!"

FRUSTRATION
Before Childs comes in you see the "arms" go up and a significant amount of tissue (tentacles and stuff) follow it up.

LOL!! Kurt auditioned for the role of Han Solo. It would have been so ironic had he got it (think about being frozen in blocks of ice and carbonite.) XidiouX
