Cause for Celebration: I FINALLY got Foster's book!
Where else but Outpost 31 could I find other people who will understand why I wriggled with glee like a kid again (and I'm 44!) yesterday when my copy of Alan Dean Foster's book arrived from Amazon?! *bounces with happiness and shares it with his Thing friends...and assimilatable humans too!*

Halfway through it now: I know he wrote it as an adaptation of Lancasters earlier script but he definitely adds some of his own "flair" in places. Overall it's more like a "re-telling" of the movie with many details changed and some introspection. Also, the dialogue differs significantly in many places from what ended up in the finished film. That all makes sense given the nature of his adaptation (and the fact that it WAS an "adaptation"...or was it "assimilation?" :twisted: ) Anyway, VERY fun read in any case!! I highly recommend getting it! Amazon got it to me in just a few days!
