Favorite Characters from the movie?

Favorite Characters from the movie?
We all know that MacReady is ''the hero'' and might be everyones fav. character... but i was wondering, do you have any other favorites? You can post a few if you want... I'll start: I think my favorites are: Copper - Old man, doc, with a nose ring... - ftw :D Palmer - I love his appereance and his rude side wich makes me laugh. Windows - Poor Windows killed by Palmer-Thing... :( ( :D ) Norris - I liked how Charles Hallahan acted in the movie, i really liked how he was Norris. And MacReady... - Kurt Russell was just great in this movie. The Last time ive seen in on TV.. so i turn on Channel 3, the movie has already started, there was the Kennel-Thing scene starting... my brother was like: \"Kurt Russel.. meh he's a hotshot guy, always the cool guy\" and i'm like \" No! He's great!\" -Mon

Of course Mac. I also like Nauls' character a lot. He has some of the best acting in the movie if you watch him close in the scenes. That boy is scared. Would like to meet T.K. one day... T

I like Palmer because he's so laidback and often wasted on pot, the camp clown in a way. And his take on the revelation of the discovery of the UFO is priceless :D \"Hotrods of the Gods Man!\"

I like every character in the movie except Bennings as we're not given enough time to get to know him. Otherwise, all the characters seem pretty realistic and likable to me. If I had to choose one, I'll probably pick Windows as he's the one showing his feelings the more and he's also pretty perceptive (he's the one who finds Fuchs' body) and wonders if the course of action is right when the others don't (\\"what if we're wrong about Mac ?\\"). He also gets one of the most awful deaths of the movie, being chewed and mauled by the Thing, then getting burned alive... :cry:

Copper - Interesting man, he cares about what's happening. Mac - Without him it would be a mess. Windows - Just a funny guy, you can rely on him, but his work sucks. He's not a hard working man. Palmer - Something you can stick with. Thought every member has it's advantages, but they don't do mean to each other at all. They are just a group who don't care about their work and situation they live in.

Cohen. no one really liked him because he was an inept medic and he kept turning out to be infected and killed the player but... oh, ahem. sorry, i was thinkin' of the game. Childes would be my bet. i love Keith David's acting.

Falchek was a much better medic than Cohen anyway. :P

I can really relate to Fuchs. I too have had my mentor go crazy with an axe, and then I needed to pick up the slack. Not fun.

I don't think I can choose. After watching and discussing the movie so many times I've come to love all of the characters. They all fit their roles perfectly.

After so thoroughly trouncing Bennings in the other thread, I thought I'd pop in here and advocate for my fave. For me, Childs was the most entertaining to watch, so I'll go with him. No hesitation...just pure motivation.

I acknowledge that I may have posted something completely different back on the old boards but for today: Mac is the coolest hands down. But if we took him out of the fray I'd say Childs and Palmer tie. Childs is like that no nonsense street guy who can't cope with Things out of the ordinary yet HAS to. It makes his reactions a riot to watch. Yet he has that air of action hero that says, I may be barely holding my water here, but I'm not ABOUT to go down without a fight. He exudes strength. Palmer, well, he's just too entertaining. :)

I can't say there's a favorite character. But my best friend, Jay Norris, always says at the Chopper scene: "Yeah, that's why you don't fuck with a Norris in our sleep!"
