Fighting Corpses Trick
Have dead bodies of your NPC characters fight for you after they commit suicide: I discovered this while playing this week: "Trick" Instructions: You must have the following for it to work: THE THING PC GAME Change registry codes for NPC Invulnerable, have full Weapon Equip and your Player Character Invulnerable.
Edit your registry and find key:
HKLM/Software/Computer Artworks/TheThing/1.0
Right click and create the following new Strings and set each with a value of '1' for Enabled, '0' for disabled:
PlayerInvulnerable : Unlimited Health For You
NPCInvulnerable : Unlimited Health For Allied Friends
FullWeaponEquip : Get All Weapons
Here's how it works:
You go to a level where you meet your NPC, you have 5 -*test*-('") needles, and all weapons. Give your NPC a machine gun with plenty of ammo.
Keep your distance from him
Use your flamethrower and burn him, attack him until he doesn't trust you, and keep burning him until he's on the ground weeping, make sure he still has his machine gun in his hand. Keep attacking him until he tries to kill himself with his machine gun.
He has to be invulnerable..important.
He will start shooting himself in the head with his machine gun.
He will not die, and keep trying to kill himself.
As soon as he starts trying to kill himself, go to your weapon equip screen, and select the -*test*-('")ing needle, and press 1 to -*test*-('") on yourself, this will regain his trust.
He will still be trying to kill himself.
Go to NPC screen and ask him to follow you.
He will!
He will stop trying to kill himself, but he will be a dead body on the ground.
He still has his weapon, and he will follow you around, and shoot at creatures, while he is a dead body lying on the ground.
Basically, you will have this dead character lying on the ground following you around! Shooting!
If you take or switch his weapon he will revert to no-trust mode.
If you change levels he will revert to his normal self, standing.
If you don't -*test*-('") yourself with the needle he wont follow or trust you, but stand there trying to kill himself forever.
He will be firing his machine gun without running out of bullets forever, until you confront an enemy or creature, then his gun will stop shooting, and he will fight for you as a corpse.
