I love your site, it's gratifying that this classic and life affirmingly bleak film is now getting the recognition it deserves. A friend of mine somehow managed to procure the film on vhs for us to watch on an otherwise dreary sunday long ago. I can't think of a film before or since that had quite the affect that this one did! We must have been fairly young and innocent and it just hit us for six. My friend' s mum must have wondered what had traumatised us so completely. I've returned to the film many times since and I'm just amazed at how it works so well, I almost turn pretentious striving to communicate to others just how downright different and special it is. Nowadays I'm increasingly impressed by Carpenter's resolute direction, there are no compromises, no false moves; from ominous beginning to apocalyptic end. All the best ! Mark UK
