Home Workout For the Abs
Todd, my six-pack is slowly turning into a 2-liter, so I'd like to tighten it up. What's the best way to do this at home?

Hey Benson, Hmmmmm. You are gaining bodyfat slowly. #1 Watch your diet. #2 Raise your physical activity level. I know you're pretty aware to eat healthy, try to keep it as clean as you can. Little extras add up daily, combined with less activity and a slowing metabolism equals weight gain. You gotta burn off the fat to bring your 6-pack out again. So without the time, money, and hassle of a fitness club you can go for walks or even jog/run. Take your dog for a walk. Got a mountain/trail bike? Cardio burns bodyfat and also works out your #1 muscle, the heart. There are quite a few exercises you can do at home to train your abs too. Crunches, leg raises; I highly recommend an exercise ball ($20 at Wal-Mart) can give you a ton of killer ab exercises you can do in your living room. I love them, you can hit your abs in seconds with those. They come with sample workouts or you can search online. Here's a good site showing a handful of exercises with pics you can do on the ball. http://www.fitnessvancouver.ca/anatomyassets/exercise%20ab%20curl%20ball.htm Doing a bit of each; eating clean, increasing your physical activity/cardio, and doing some direct ab work a couple of times a week will bring your 6-pack out of hiding. Thanks for the advice! About a month ago, I started walking at work. We have a circle in the RenCen (8 laps equals 1 mile). I walk four laps early in the morning (all I have to for), and after lunch, I walk 8 laps. After work, I usually walk to dog about a mile. I'll watch what I eat more closely, too, and look into the exercise ball.

Hey Benson, So you are getting in 7 1/2 miles a week walking at work. Not bad! Keep it going. I was at Chapters and at the Fitness & Health section they have a stand/section that has a pretty decent selection of the exercise balls, etc. I plan to buy one soon myself to have at home...I want to use it in place of my office chair at my desk. My posture is bad when I am at the computer, I'm constantly sitting back up straight...and my lower back feels the worst in my office chair. However sitting on an exercise ball you have no choice but to have perfect posture and you are working your core muscles to balance. They actually sell chairs like this...check this out: http://www.amazon.com/Gaiam-Balance-Ball-Chair-Black/dp/B0007VB4NE/ref=pd_sim_sg_3/102-1870195-6192131 I want one! T
