Motivation!
What gets you motivated to workout when you don't feel like it? I try and think that I'm always happy that I did it afterwards, but there's times where I really have to force myself, and some times the first part of Newton's Law of Motion kicks in. "An object at rest tends to stay at rest..."

Todd- 04-03-2007

This is an interesting question, I just got asked this last night. Easy to answer for myself, but you are not me. To be bluntly honest I never have trouble getting motivated to work out. And unless I am sick or ridiculously tired I never don't want to work out. This is because there are too many things already motivating me to work out. The list is almost endless... health, longevity, sex, more energy, self-confidence, more sex, looking good, looking good to the opposite sex/wife/girlfriend = more sex, working out is a natural high; it's addicitve and feels great (almost, but not as good as sex, Arnold was joking), training to compete in shows; also addictive and a rush and pushes you into the best shape ever.... It is the one and only 'real' fountain of youth. It also raises your -*test*-('")osterone level, makes you look better to females, and this means more sex. Are you motivated yet? Investing your time and money into exercising and fitness is the absolute best investment you can make with your time and money that will pay back a 1000 fold in all other arenas of your life. You can do no better with that time. And it will certainly give you much more time. The longer you stick with it the more of a routine will develop. The person looking back at you in the mirror will start to change and so will your self-steem, affect, ego, and confidence. You will find yourself counting down until your next workout instead of dreading it. Indeed some days can be tougher to get going, but I find once you get going the ball starts to roll and training will actually energize you. Find what motives you the most from the list of postives and focus on it when you are having an off day fighting Newton's Law. And I gotta say thanks, I am training my legs in about 45 mins, I think I am motivated now. :P Train Hard! T

I don't know, working out was never a rush for me, more like an uncomfortable exertion. I don't think I've ever experienced a runner's high either, just the feeling like my liver is being squashed underneath my lung and is about to explode.

For me Motivation for fitness is THE MAJOR problem in working out any routine in any fitness routine. Thankfully for me being in the TA (Territorial Army) sometimes this is not a problem. A few days of running about on exercise about puts me in a frame of mind of fitness which can continue for a while. (a few days or weeks depending on my frame of mind! But when if you have had a hard day at work(physical or mentally) all you want to do is relax. and rest then motivation to do any fitness is so hard. As for investing time and money into fitness. time for me is not really a problem but investing money into a gym could cost me £35 a month. which is lot. Todd your right in saying get into a routine as this can help a lot with fitness. as i find i'm a little bit fitter than a lot of younger people half my age in the TA(weird or what!)

What a great outlook on working out Todd! Motivation is a little hard to come by AT FIRST. You work out for a week or two, don't see any results, you're sore everywhere, laziness is telling you to just stop and eat twinkies. After awhile you overcome this hurdle, and it only gets easier. Eventually you get a routine going and you see results and it is magnificent. It becomes as routine as brushing your teeth... Personally, these days, if I miss one day of my six day workout regime...I get fiercely pissed off at myself

Physical fitness has never been much a a problem for me. I'm not the most powerful man in our Kung Fu school, far from it, but when it comes to stamina, Grasshopper is a front soldier! I always tell myself that I train for myself and that my body is my temple. I always want to do good techniques, executed in a powerful way. When my body is in a good shape, I can perform Kung Fu much, much longer. That's what I keep telling myself. YOU ONLY DO IT FOR YOURSELF :!:
