Outpost #31 Site Updates: November 5th, 2008
I have worked on the site tonight and made it a bit easier to navigate. There is finally a link on almost all the pages now (except the 'deep' pages like the Fan Fics and Essays....they are still outta date from the crash this summer....it'll take me awhile to get to all of them...) that can return you right back to the mainpage. Main Entrance The mainpage has been cleaned up and organized with new links and stuff the past few weeks. If anyone while surfing around the Outpost finds any broken links/images or anything messed up please note the page and send me an e-mail or PM and I will fix it up. Thanks! I'll post all future site updates in this thread... Todd

Joel Chapman the fellow who did that awesome re-edit of the THING trailer on YouTube has just submitted an essay entitled She’s a Man-Eater: Gender Politics in Alien and The Thing which is up now and can be found here: http://www.outpost31.com/vistar/essays/thingalien.html The DVD and Tech Specs sections have ben updated. For some reason the text goes off the screen to the right and I don't get a scroll bar at the bottom allowing me to see it...

Todd- 12-15-2006

On which page Jarad? The new essay page, it looks fine to me...? How's it look for you guys?? I plan to edit and fix up the rest of the pages on the site over the next couple of weeks (maybe a few pages a day, it's a slow process) so the Outpost is easy to get around and looks good. The deep pages are way outta date with broken links to the Disc. Board, etc. T

Moneo's artworks have been added to the Fan Images section, including a few that haven't been posted on the board here yet. So if you like her work check them out up on the Outpost: http://www.outpost31.com/vistar/fanimage2.html T

The text is fine for me. The essay itself has some points of interest, but I wonder how anyone can be so entirely obsessed by gender. And laughingly, everything even remotely cylindrical is \"phallic\". Electric eels phallic?? Hardly. So..I guess it could be argued that The Thing does not in fact have an \"all male\" cast..

The THING-FEST pages are all updated and now part of the Outpost site template. Note that the URL's have changed a bit but I have updated all the links I can find and the site is getting much better looking and easier to navigate. Take a look, surf around, and please let me know of any broken links, images, etc. you find on the Outpost. That would be appreciated. http://www.outpost31.com/todd/thingfest.html T

The mainpage news has been updated. Take a look and please let me know if you find any broken links, images, etc. around the site. I am layed up with a serious lower back injury (torn ligaments in my lumbar spine) so I won't be doing much at all for the next 2 weeks other than watching movies and working on fixing up the pages on the Outpost here. The site is looking a lot better and soon will be very easy to navigate...so no excuses of anybody getting lost if the lights go out. T First goddamn week of winter...

Future Filmmaker- 12-22-2006

I might just be being ignorant here, but I see no link from here on the forum to the main page. Maybe you could help me out here.

miker- 12-22-2006

actually, yeah, that's something i've always noticed.... or failed to notice, i suppose. we need a link from the forums back to the mainpage... or if there is one, we need to be told where it is.

thething.ca- 12-22-2006

There isn't any and it doesn't appear to be a way to make one. Not with this system anyway...

Todd- 12-22-2006

I can't seem to find a way to create a live link back to the Outpost on the forum either. I'm guessing almost everyone who first surfs onto this board comes in from the site. You'll have to make your way back to the Outpost manually...don't get lost in the storm... T

are these forums PHPBB? ThaSpY worked quite a bit with'em back in the day when thaspy.com worked, and the Outpost31.com site was still green around the edges. if it is PHPBB, and my memory isn't faulty, there was a 'home' link to click in the FAQ, Memberlist, Search, Login/Logout bar up top. so, IF it is PHPBB, i could drag him out of the RPG section and see if he knows anything about it?

Todd- 12-27-2006

Thanks for the offers to help, however we can't seem to find a way with this forum to add an active link anywhere. As I posted likely all who find this forum come in from the site in the first place and both URL's are in very large text at the top of the forum template: this was originally Stefan's forum for his personal THING website: http://www.thething.ca -Today marks 10 months until TF7, a new countdown clock is on the MySpace profile for Outpost #31. http://www.myspace.com/tc_outpost31 Currently 303 days, 10 hours, and 24 mins.... -Links to Outpost #31 have been added to all relevant pages on Wikipedia. -The Trivia section has been updated with some new tidbits. -A new photo of modelmaker Henry Alvarez working on the Spider-Head in the Special Effects section. -Goofs section updated with 3 new photos. -Moneo is working on making cool banners for the site, see the Script and Screenshots sections. The Screenshots section has also been updated and organized. -Up now is a very dark and interesting new fan-fic from Cpl Ferro entitled FUCH'S HOLOCAUST: http://www.outpost31.com/vistar/stories/holocaust.html The Cpl also has sumitted an Essay entitled HANNIBAL LECTER MEETS THE THING. It can be found here: http://www.outpost31.com/vistar/essays/hannibal.html Continuing to work on updating the deeper pages that are badly out of date with broken/missing links, T
