Parnevek and Fisk?
He's the mute Norwegian you encounter in the holding cells while looking for Dr. Faraday. Every walkthrough I've read says HE WILL transform, but he's never transforms in any of my games. I've also found that Fisk always disappears between levels when I play. He doesn't get on the elivator with the rest of us. What do you guys think?

Parnevik is infected by the Thing, and will reveal himself if you blood -*test*-('") him, or if he gets hit by the Things. However, if you don't blood -*test*-('") him and keep him away from the Things, he can survive to the end of the level where he disappears, likely because either we're to assume that Whitley captured him and Price and killed both of them, or the developers were expected Price to get killed or infected and Parnevik to burst out. Personally, I thought it would be better if you had to keep Price alive to the end of the level, and he would also be in the cutscene, and he would appear at the beginning of the next level and wake you up or something, but that's just me. I guess they thought that there would be too many NPCs or something? They seem to use scripts (infections, disappearances, etc.) to prevent you from getting over 3 NPCs most of the time. As for Fisk (Gary explained this one to me), the developers probably either made a mistake and forgot to place a Fisk entity in level 12 (or 7b, if you will), or they intentionally left him out to avoid getting 4 NPCs. Not sure which.

Yep, Pi is right on almost everything, except that Parnevik does not need to be hit by a Thing to turn, he will burst out if there are other Things around (for instance, if you're battling three scuttlers in a room and Parnevik is here, he will probably burst out). About Fisk, I'm pretty sure now that the developers at first thought that he'd be in level 7B as there is a burstout script for him. As one of the developers of the game told me, they had a limit to the number of NPCs who could be seen onscreen and this limit was 3-4 so that low-end PCs wouldn't slow down the action. Of course, as the game is now 4 years old, eliminating this limitation should not be a problem anymore.
