Phone call from John Howard...
I got a phone call last week from an interesting fellow named John Howard. He found our site as he is a fan of the film, and turns out he grew up in Hyder/Stewart. He has some trivia/info for us - His father Don Howard was the foreman at the Granduc Mine through the 70's until the mine closed in '84 The Salmon Glacier Road from Stewart to the mine cost $1 000 000 a mile to make. All the heavy equipment had to be flown in in pieces onto Tide Lake. He was "Hyderized" in 1975, 7 years before Carpenter & Co. arrived. The bears are hibernating and not active during the winter months. They are active in the summer when we plan to go up and to bring noisemakers/make lots of noise as they spook off easily from humans. Follow the universal precautions for bear safety and camping out on the site should not be a problem. He now lives in Sudbury, ON. (Very close to Stefan - thething.ca) He lived in Australia for awhile, has a hammerhead shark tattoo and is also a certified SCUBA diver! T

(Queensland; Brisbane to Cairns.) My heart and soul is in Florida, I have a very strong attraction/attachment to that area, I felt it on my first visit when I was 21, and it gets stronger all the time. When I am there I feel like I am truly home, in my element. I will live there one day, soon.... T
