Some"thing" new I noticed.. The sign of a great classic film, to me, is one you can watch over and over and still see something new and fresh every time you watch it. I've seen The Thing probably close to 100 times, but I just noticed something I've never seen before. In the beginning, if you look at the Norwegian who throws the hand grenade, I noticed the left side of his jacket is ripped and torn. I've never noticed this before, but I find it interesting, in that when the alien takes one over, it rips through the clothes of its victim. Possibly he was infected and didn't know it........something to think about.

It always bothered me why he wasted his time trying to cover up that grenade instead of run..

Wait'll you see it big screen.... New THING's like that jump out at you....
I saw the Norwegian's ripped jacket the first time I saw it on 35mm and notice it every time since. To my knowledge that topic has never been discussed...........

I believe he was trying to find it to throw it away from the chopper, not try to bury it....

Still, the logical thing to do with a ready grenade is to run away.

Yes...I agree with Todd...I believe he was rummaging through the snow to find the grenade to throw it, not trying to bury it.

I figured that he really didn't want his chopper to get blown up

It was quite weird yeah, he had to just run away. Didn't seem logical to me. You don't risk your life for a heli don't you?
