The Crappening
A great idea for s tory ruined by some of the worst acting I've ever seen, even Wahlburg was pretty sub par for what we've seen of him lately. The worst was Zooey Deschanel who had one expression regardless of the emotion she was attempting to portray, pretty much this one: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm404067840/nm0221046 It was like Zoolander, except funny because it was so pathetic. Seriously, the acting was so bad they had to be directed to act this way. M. Night Sham-a-lam-a-ding-dong has really just dropped to new lows. His staging wasn't bad though. I've never really had a since of dread about wind before but the way he shot the suicides and approaching doom were quite good. 8 of 10 for the story. 3 of 10 for the acting and what I'll have to give the movie overall. If a book came out I'd rather read it so I could cast and act it out in my own head. This is a renter at best.

I had exactly the same feeling about Zooey Deschanel, she gave the worst acting I've seen in a movie for a long time. But hey, she's beautiful so I guess it's ok (I'd rather have a real actress next time, thanks).

SPOILER WARNING!!!!! I agree completely with you guys about that movie! It's not even trying to have an interesting plot twist (the only thing that makes Shamal... Shamly... Shamalamadingdong movies interesting IMO), the acting is simply awful, and the over-usage of cheap eco hysteria makes me sick to the bone. A shame, really... SPOILER END!!!!

I've never been particularly interested in Shamylyn's (sp?) movies anyways. But this one had to have been the one that least caught my attention, it seemed really odd seeing a bunch of random people offing themselves. I've never seen it yet, but I'll be sure not to.

NOT HAPPENNING I have read a number of web reviews of this film and all of them have universally shat on this movie from a great height. The acting sucks because the DIRECTOR, Mr Shamalamadingdong, has completely lost it and couldn't direct traffic on a one way street now. Mark Wahlberg is a good actor but when you're being directed by a moron who is convinced of his own greatness, then it won't make a shred of difference if you are the grea-*test*-('") actor of a generation, the performance will still suck. This is a terrible shame but I believe M Nightoftherottingdead started his career with two great fims but has slid down hill since then < I really loved Unbreakable > and now with this pile of manure that has stunk out movie houses world wide, I think he'll be playing with Digital Video and shooting Cheap 'n Nasty Porn as that's all the work he'd be offered after this disaster. The sad thing here is that he bought into his own hype. His last box office nightmare, "The Lady in the Water" was crafted and written by him and featured a non to subtled attack on his critics as well as himself playing the pivitol role of the writer who will change the future of humanity. What utter arrogance and conciet! It showed then he completely believed his shit didn't stink and the sun shone from out of his arse. Also he is suffering from Orson Wells Syndrome. This is a well know phenomenon where a talented person will create their Magnum Opus, a master piece, on their first outing and will never be able to replicate this level of talent again in their career. Orson did it with Citizen Kane and Shamalamadingdong has done it with The Sixth Sense. It will be interesting to see the fallout from this trainwreck and see what happens with his rapidily ending career.

Hahaha! I laughed when I saw this thread title. Cam has always been able to crack me up when he finally makes a post. I agree with Talwyn's thoughts on him. He either needs to get his shit together and start taking things more seriously or start a new career cleaning shit from monkey cages. When I saw the trailer for the movie, I actually thought that maybe he's doing something interesting for once and doing what he does best. Instead, he fails - again. Unbreakable was the last great movie he did.

Thanks for the reviews. I had no interest in seeing it at the movie theater. I think I'll skip it when it's on TV too.

Caught this shit sandwich last weekend. Everything Cam said was EXACTLY what I was thinking. And my girlfriend and I agreed that the acting was so bad it felt like it was a prank or something. So we were like, "this must be a movie within a movie," or something. We just kept waiting through that horrid movie... and waiting and waiting... The credits rolled and all I could say was at least it wasn't long. Spoiler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!! I did like the part where the guys were jumping off the scaffolding. That looked real...

Talwyn- 06-27-2008

Well aparently we didn't "get it", the true nature of the film that is. According to a minority of reviewers on IMDB, The Crappenning is subtle "B" movie and this explains the supposed poor acting. It was all deliberate! .... :? excuse me while I try to sell snow to Inuit and sand to Arabs.... OH FOR FUCK SAKES!!!! Can anybody here buy that enormous load of festering bollocks? Why on earth would A List director set out to make a B movie and spend a small fortune doing so? No, I think there are a few desperate people out there that for whatever deranged reasons are so desperate to cling to the misguided belief that Shamalamadingdong is playing some huge joke on the movie going world. If, and this is a huge if, this is true then he's got really poor tatse in humour and I truly doubt the producers and studio that bankrolled this steaming pile of fetid dingos kidneys are laughing aloud and patting him on the back. Sure the film will probably make money but it will barely recoup its initial outlay. I'd say that M Night Shinealightonme needs to go into the hall of mirrors and take a good long hard look at himself and decide if making movies is what he is capable of these days.
