The Drinks in the Film.
Hey just posting here to ask about the drinks they had in the film. Obviously Mac drunk J&B Rare. But I can't seem to figure out what brand of Smirnoff they had. It looks like a nagan of Smirnoff Silver. Would I be right? What do you guys think?

Cheatin' Bitch- 08-23-2007

Don't forget that fine can of Budweiser that MacReady uses to smash open the alarm compartment when he hears the commotion in DogTown...

Lokstock- 08-30-2007

I know if I were in there position, I would be hittin that J&B Rare...

ItAintFuchs- 12-14-2007

Don't forget the Coors original Mac had.

VanMan- 12-16-2007

Umm. Smirnoff Ice? ... just kidding...

Todd- 12-18-2007

I think there is a 6-pack of Michelob on top of the jukebox for the entire film- been meaning to ask this for awhile, anyone confirm?? T

ItAintFuchs- 12-20-2007

I think it is Michelob in the silver foil wrapped bottles.

There was also budweiser. They should added a scene with Childs coming in saying "eh can a brother get a bud light?"

My friends think I'm crazy for drinking J&B. They all drink mudslides and flavoured beers. I'll admit, I prefer ryes, but I have a soft spot for J&B. I think you're right about the Smirnoff, Fox. I'll have to look at the film again, though, to be sure.

Cheatin' Bitch- 01-16-2008

Blair was the Smirnoff man. The bottle appears at his desk during the computer simulation scene where you see Blair open a drawer and take out the pistol. It is also present when they lock him up out in the shack. MacReady even takes a swig while talking to Blair about the rarity of trust. And while not an alcoholic beverage, let's not forget about Sister Mary Jane who appears prominently in the film....

Semanticide- 01-17-2008

What's with this alcohol, guns, crazy people, more guns, heart attack man, dopers, racial tensions, dynamite, wolflike dogs, thermite, a crapload of gasoline and prob. diesel, blowup dolls, Chess Wizards (more than 1 if you read the novel!). I mean, what the hell are they expecting? This place was primed to explode. You could do a remake of this film and not even have the monster show up. Somebody j ust lets out a rude noise at the wrong time and BLAM the whole place goes up like quickset cabin fever. (Sorry, Doc, you'se wuz wrong.) S

Todd- 01-17-2008

Where was the racial tension in the film?? Mac had a big can of Coors with his 40oz of J&B when he gets called into the store room on the intercom by Doc. Windows is also drinking a bottle of Bud in the rec room when the men are looking over the pieces of the saucer. T

Where you been livin, bwana? S

Naw man, two people of different races in an enclosed space doesn't necessarily translate into racial tension. I didn't see any in the film... I mean, there was tension alright... but it was all to do with species and not races. Could you point out where in the film you found racial tension for us, please?

Todd- 01-18-2008

two people of different races in an enclosed space doesn't necessarily translate into racial tension. I agree. Unless one for their own reasons perceives this scenario to be tense to begin with.... T
