The Thing Beta
Ive Seen The Thing Beta on you tube and it looks better than the Final Game,I want to Know what you think.

I'm happy we got a nice over the shoulder 3rd person perspective instead of an obvious Resident Evil clone. That beta video includes a lot more dialogue and character development then we actually got to see in the game. The story progression that we actually get is really underdeveloped and forced, and doesn't really explain itself all the time.

The Beta video had more monster types than the final game

Not sure the beta had more monster types, but they sure took out a lot of good stuff : better script, human characters had hood when outside, emphasis on paranoia and so on.

Yeah, the humans not wearing hats outside seemed strange. It seems like the game's development time just got cut off to get it released faster.

The beta trailer was actually what incited me to buy the game. I was excited to no end by the moment in the trailer where Blake solemnly utters, "...it's MacReady!" upon finding his body. I hated how the actual game left MacReady out of the picture entirely until the ending, which was pretty freakin' lame by all standards. The beta trailer seemed to echo the film often, with a shot of the melted ice chunk, the dog thing, etc...none of that in the final game! The script and characterization in the trailer are, as Weldon said earlier, much stronger than in the final product as well...and those were only brief glimpses! Oh well...

Believe it or not folks, this video game trailer is what got me introduced to The Thing in the first place! More the TV spot actually. It looked so frightening and cool to play I simply had to pick it up. It was only until after I played it that I found out it was a sequel to a movie.
