TV Version
As bad as the butchered version is....I can't help but watch it when its aired. The wierd thing is that it seems to not shown anymore. has anyone seen it on TV lately? Also, I still don't understand why with all the crap that is produced for the SciFi Channel.....the original version has never aired.

I vaguely remember seeing The Thing on television. But once I got to the Norris-thing scene I had to turn it off. Barely any gore and heavily edited. It was sickening what they did to it. Oneo of the main reasons why I no longer watch TV.

I recently (and for the first time ever in my life) hooked my TV up to cable, and about 3 or 4 weeks ago I came across THE THING on one of the movie channels that comes with the package. This was a fun surprise to see it on TV, no commercials and it was not the edited version. T

I posted a reply in this thread and it seems to have disappeared...... (?) THE THING aired 3X in February in HD, widescreen, uncut on Mpix, a movie channel that comes with the Cable here. The Movie Entertainment Guide that comes with the Cable got the year wrong (1980) the runtime wrong (108 mins) and the location wrong (Arctic Circle). :? http://www.movieentertainment.ca T

Well, it would've otherwise been uncut on national television which is what I was saying.

The TV version..
does the sci-fi or tnt/tbs version contains the deleted or extended scenes such as mac asking the men what size shirt they wear..and when nauls asked blair these question : so, what is it gonna do? pull itself together and come chasing after us?" i remember seeing this on the cbs version which was aired back in the 85 or 86..

Yeah, I was hoping to get a copy in HD on my PVR, but sadly where I live we don't get the MPIX channel in HD. We have TMNHD and MHD. I was able to watch it in 4:3 format on the regular MPIX, but didn't bother.
